Spruce Lake RV Campground in Estes Park, CO

This weekend we traveled to Estes Park and stayed at the Spruce Lake RV Campground on the edge of town with a Denver based RV club. Spruce Lake is a fine campground with many amenities such as a fish pond, RV store, pool, hot tub, and activity center - none of which we used. It is a very family friendly though, and close to downtown for shopping and dining.

The campground also has large, clean shower facilities, and many sites have full hookups including cable TV which we tried for the first time while camping. It is a nice amenity to have, but if the weather is nice, I'd rather be outside by a campfire, roasting marshmellows and gazing at the stars.

For this trip we also changed tow vehicles and used a 2007 Toyota FJ. This is a beautiful truck and seems almost tailor made for towing an Airstream Bambi. It is an eye-catching towing combination, and the FJ performed well. My only complaint is that the FJ has poor visibility out the back windows, which is a significant detriment when towing any kind of trailer. Otherwise, it was thumbs up for performance and an A+ for style.
